living with cancer

This is the one diary I should have kept 14 years ago and one I wish I did not feel the need to keep now. I was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1992 and survived. 2006 and I now have another tumor under investigation: the journey begins again..

Now I need to lose weight

Nothing to report currently, apart from the fact that I am now 2 stone or more overweight, mainly as a result of giving up smoking cigars and discovering cooking as a hobby; which could be fatal! Today, whilst out walking at lunchtime from work, I decided to run 100 metres up a slight incline along a country path. I have to admit to being completely winded by the exertions, I desperately need to lose that weight. I will be making more of an effort to exercise from now on.

If you are passing by this blog because you are going through a cancer experience yourself then I wish you luck and a speedy recovery and hope that reading a part of this may help in some small way.

Common cold virus may be new weapon to fight cancer

If it wasn’t for the common cold I may never have found out that my Cancer had returned last year when I went to the doctors with a cough and ended up having an X-ray that discovered the tumour. Now the common cold is being put to good use in the fight against Cancer. This is one type of Germ Warfare I agree with.

3 Monthly - Tuesday 02 January 2007

Well, I have just sailed through my second 3 monthly check-up since the Cancer returned and all appears well.
I did managed to burn my hand on the hot cup of coffee I had purchased whilst waiting to be called to see the consultant, it must have been the shock of not having to wait too long.
The Consultant, someone I had not seen before, was amazed by the turn of events that bought me to the hospital once again and he was concerned that I am not having any MRI scans, but the resident consultant reassured him the X-rays I am receiving are sufficient.

I am indeed a lucky man.

2007

...that's another year I have made it to with thanks to lady-luck and the hands of yet another competent surgeon working in the NHS.
Happy New Year to you all, especially those professionals, friends and family who helped us through last year.
