Four weeks after the Ultrasound scan and my results finally arrived back at the GPs surgery, after much chasing up by myself.
Unfortunately, and surprisingly, the results show my kidney to be normal with the exception of the cyst, which now transpires has nothing to do with the pains I am experiencing in my back.
Although I have repeatedly told my GP about back pain he can find no reference to me having mentioned it in my notes and as a result is now trying a different tack and has sent me for an x-ray on my spine. I have no idea what he expects to discover there but I suspect it will come back as negative; that will be another two weeks wasted as I await the results of these after Christmas.
If this proves to be the case then he will probably refer me back to the Consultancy team that dealt with the lung cancer last year as he believes the pains could be related to the operation I had in 2007. I however believe he is unwilling to send me for further expensive scans which will now place the cost on the Hospital Trust instead of the GP surgery budget. Cynical I know, but the excruciating pains I was experiencing later in the night can make one feel that way sometimes.
I have now been subscribed anti inflammatory drugs that appear to exasperate the pains, but only time will tell.
