living with cancer

This is the one diary I should have kept 14 years ago and one I wish I did not feel the need to keep now. I was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1992 and survived. 2006 and I now have another tumor under investigation: the journey begins again..

Best Birthday present – Tuesday 19 September 2006

Today I started with the first of many checks over the next 10 years or more at hospital. Thankfully, I have been given another clean bill of health for a further 3 months.

'Beggars belief’ - Saturday 16 September 2006

When I discovered I had Cancer I naturally searched the intranet for all available information and came across a BBC recommended site called Dipex.Org - Personal Experiences of Health & illness.

I duly joined the Dipex community and posted to one of the Forums in April 2006 expecting some kind of feedback; but alas there were no postings or replies to my comments and looking through the site Forums very little traffic to the site, hence one of the reasons for starting this Blog.

To my surprise someone proclaiming to be a member of Dipex sent me an email this week, it goes as follows:-

Dearest in the Lord, PLEASE ENDEAVOUR TO USE IT FOR THE CHILDREN OF GOD. I am Mrs Roselinda from Bahrain. I am married to Dr.Andrews Amana who worked with Bahrain embassy in cote d'ivoire for nine years before he died in the year 2000. We were married for eleven years without a child. He died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days. Before his death we were both born again Christians. Since his death I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of 6Million U.S. Dollars) with one BANK in cote d' ivoir . Presently, this money is still with the BANK. Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next three months due to cancer problem. Though what disturbs me most is my stroke Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to church or better still a christian individual that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct here in. I want a church that will use this to fund churches, orphanages and widows propagating the word of God and to ensure that the house of God is maintained. The Bible made us to understand that Blessed is the hand that giveth. I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians and I don't want my husband's hard earned money to be misused by unbelievers. I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly manner. Hence the reason for taking this bold decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bossom of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace. I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my healthbecause of the presence of my husband's relatives around me always. I don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are possible. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the BANK in ivory coast.I will also issue you a letter of authority that will empower you as the original- beneficiary of this fund. I want you and the church to always pray for me because the lord is my shephard. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Who ever that wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life. any delay in your reply will give me room in searching for a church or christian individual for this same purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated here in. Hoping to hearing from you. Remain blessed in the name of the Lord. Yours in Christ.for more infation reach me with this email,

Pushing on...

As mentioned previously we took our push-bikes down to the New Forest in Hampshire and had a really good time.

I have been recently been stopped by a number of people who have congratulated me on getting better and commented upon my bravery.

Firstly, it has mainly been down to the wonderful handy work of a surgeon [not for the first time] who has rid me of life threatening tumour. Secondly I am not brave, just pragmatic – this is brave, Cancer sufferer Jane Tomlinson of Leeds, in Yorkshire, has completed an epic 4,200 mile bike ride across the US, well done Jane.
